Umberto Giannini 'FRIZZI' Review

Hello all today's post is going to be about a hair product from Umberto Giannini. I suffer from horrendously frizzy hair so I wanted to try out a new frizz tamer as I like to call it. I decided to go for the Umberto Giannini 'FRIZZI' product as it contains argan oil which my hair is a big fan of. Here is the product (may I add it's a best seller)

Umberto Giannini 'FRIZZI' - £6.99 (Boots)
After using this product my hair was left soft, tamed and had a beautiful shine to it, but not extremely shiny as that tends to make your hair look more greasy than shiny. The ends of my hair looked less damaged as I do straighten my hair often. Also it doesn't weigh your hair down which is another brilliant thing about this product, as I love voluminous hair. This truly is a miracle worker and worth the price!

Motivational Monday

Today is the last Monday of January and I have really enjoyed writing posts to help motivate people.. On Mondays haha. For my last Motivational Monday I wanted to talk about helping less fortunate people. If you are reading this then I assume you are at home in the warmth with a laptop/tablet. Well think about this for a minute there are people out there who are homeless with no job, family, friends or a nice warm meal. This really upsets me as here in London it is absolutely freezing outside and rains nearly every single day, not to mention the crazy wind that's been working its way through the UK.

So what I'm trying to say is next time you come across a homeless person buy them a sandwich or a hot drink, anything you can do for a homeless person is never considered little. One time I bought a homeless man some Mc Donald's and when he heard that I was going to buy him a meal his face lit up like it was Christmas or something. I could have honestly cried my eyes out because it's so sad that most of us take food for granted, or our jobs, family, friends. You never no what tomorrow holds, you too could be made homeless. So do your bit and help as much as you can, believe me it feels GREAT!

Things to remember..
Hate your job?
Be greatful for the money you earn that puts clothes on your back and food in your tummy.
Hate where you live?
At least you have a roof over your head.
Hate your family?
Be greatful they are alive and you have people to love you no matter what.
Hate certain types of food?
At least you have food, remember there are people dying from hunger every single day.

Always remember to be greatful and always remember that things could be worse.. Next time you see someone less fortunate who needs a hand. Give them help and I'm sure one day when the time comes that you need someone, you'll also receive a helping hand.

Thank you so much for reading my Motivational Monday's I hope it has helped in any way possible, have a great day!

Lots of love.. Mx

Fresh Sugar Berry Lip Treatment Review

As the weather here in London quickly turns to bone shattering cold temperatures, it can leave us with several problems. Dry lips being one of them. I was rummaging through my lipsticks trying to find something that would help bring back the moisture in my lips, and I came across this..

Fresh - Sugar Berry Tinted Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15

I have been using this for 3 days and I can already see how much it has helped. What I love about this lip treatment is that is smells great, gets to work quickly, and it has a pink/purple tint to it. I hate lip treatments that smell/look awful on the lips as it just makes you want to bin it and never use it again. So this is definitely the solution!

Check out the Fresh website to get a full description of the product/ingredients.

Boots Mini Haul

Yesterday I popped into Boots as I wanted to pick up the new mascara from Maybelline 'Big Eyes'. I can never resist some mascara! Then I saw that Boots had one of their offers on where you save £2 on selected items, and I may have just accidentally picked up some other bits.

Originally £8.99 but I got it for £6.99

I then picked up 2 other items from Maybelline as there was a different offer which was by 2 and get the second half price. I chose the baby skin instant pore eraser as I love the baby lips and think they are amazing so hopefully the baby skin will be just as great. I then grabbed a new baby lips in Peach Kiss.

£7.99

Originally £2.99 but as there was the offer I got it for £1.49

Then I strolled over to Barry M as I needed a eye/lip pencil sharpener and then I saw this Matte Nail Paint in Crush that I saw featured on +SianShutterbug channel and I loved the colour so thought I would give it a try. I will upload a picture of the result on my Instagram: marinatilahun

£1.99

£3.99 - Colour: Crush

Lastly as I was going to pay and leave I saw that Rimmel also had the save £2 deal on the moisture renew lipsticks, so after swatching a couple of different shades of pink I went for the shade Latino 200.

Originally £6.49 but I got it for £4.49 (200 Latino)

I will share the outcome of these products on my Instagram - marinatilahun

Motivational Monday

Today I wanted to talk about the way we treat people. I witnessed a horrible argument between 2 ladies a while ago and it REALLY bothered me as what had happened was so unfair. Okay so as I don't know either of the ladies so it's going to be a bit confusing if I keep saying this lady and that lady, so the customer is called Louisa and the waitress is called Sally. So Louisa looks like a successful, busy, stressed angry lady, and Sally looks like a girl who just can't catch a break and is moments away from breaking down.

So what had happened that bothered me.. Louisa walks in the shop and orders her food and Sally accidentally forgets to add something to Louisa's order. So Louisa starts screaming at Sally telling her that she had forgotten one of the items she had ordered. Sally then looked at her co worker in a panic stricken way and quickly got herself together, she then apologised and asked Louisa if she would like her order to be heated. Louisa then continued to embarrass Sally and said "No I'll just eat my lunch cold should I" Sally then finished up the order and Louisa snatched her food out of Sally's hand and threw the money at her. Then as if this wasn't enough Louisa said "Should I come back there and count my change too or are you capable of doing that yourself". So Sally quickly handed Louisa her change and Louisa stormed out. Sally then went into the back room and didn't come back out.

What gives people the right to speak to others like that, it just makes me so angry because we are all human no one on this earth is higher than anyone else. If you really think about it every job is as important as the other because we all live on earth and technically earth is our home. So just like a normal household we all do our bit, whether its the cooking, cleaning, washing up whatever we all have our role that keeps our home in good condition. So if you work in a food shop, clothing store, cleaning the streets, or for a successful business it doesn't change who you are and you are no better than anyone else. We all do our bit on this earth and you should never be ashamed of what you do or be put down just because you don't make as much money as someone else.

If you are a Louisa then just be patient, take a deep breath and resume your day, taking your anger out on someone else isn't going to get you any where, and also you never know what a person is going through so don't be horrible just because your having a bad day. Think about it this way you get paid, you go to a nice warm home at the end of the day, you have clothes on your back and food in your tummy and there are people out there who don't, people who are REALLY struggling who really do have the right to be stressed. So like I said take a deep breath and really think before you take your anger out on someone because you could just push that person off the edge. For all you other Louisa's who choose not to listen to this message then "SHUT UP, GO DO SOME YOGA TO RELIEVE THAT STRESS INSTEAD OF TAKING IT OUT ON SOMEONE ELSE WHO DOESN'T NEED TO HEAR YOUR BULL****.. Thanks so much have a great day bye :)

John Frieda Full Repair Review

Okay so this review has been a long time coming, I MUST write a review on John Frieda. Where to start I LOVE HIM, I want to meet him and give him a MASSIVE hug! His new hair care (John Frieda Full Repair) is THE BOMB, I cannot praise him enough. This is what the hair care looks like.

So let me explain exactly why I love this hair care, I use possibly every single hair damaging tool ever. Hair dryers, straighteners, curlers, bleach, hair dye and I probably don't cut my hair as often as possible. So this left my hair really unhealthy and tired. I then went to Boots and found out about the new (at the time) John Frieda products that had just come out. After reading the benefits I was sold, because John Frieda's products have always worked so well for my hair, so I was sure that it was going to help me massively.

What I did when I got home.. I washed my hair using the shampoo and conditioner, I then used the deep conditioner hair mask and combed all through my hair so that it was distributed evenly. Then I wrapped it up and put a shower cap on to allow the heat to stay locked in and to really condition all throughout my hair. (Deep conditioner isn't shown in the image above as I have finished it all but here's an image taken off the website)  http://www.johnfrieda.co.uk/Home/

Then I left the hair masque in to do its magic for a couple of hours, in this time I got some work done, read some blogs, had some food then I rinsed it out with cold water. Will explain why I used cold water at the end. After this my hair was left so smooth and felt revived. A couple of weeks after using this product I am so happy to say my hair is back to its normal healthy condition. So if any of you have any hair problems or your hair just needs a good deep conditioning then I definitely recommend John Frieda's Full Repair.

If you don't need any hair repair then you can also try out these products I picked up.

On the left is a daily miracle leave in conditioner it also has a heat protector in it so this would be great to use before using any heat tools on your hair. In the middle is an overnight repair serum which leaves your hair feeling freshly cut and like no heat has come near your hair. Lastly on the right is a glossing mist which I actually bought a while ago but it has lasted me so long and leaves your hair looking shiny without feel greasy like some other products tend to do. Right about rinsing your hair with cold water, its good for you as cold water closes the hair cuticles and seals in the moisture.

You seriously get your moneys worth with John Frieda and what I love is that it's affordable and you see results quickly, because with some products it takes months and months before you see any changes to your hair, and I hate that. I hope this helps some of you guys with your hair problems as bad hair is not cute. Have a great day everyone :)

Fears & Phobias..

I wanted to write a post aimed on fears and phobias as I sadly let them absolutely torture me and control me which isn't good at all. My best friend and I used to be ABSOLUTELY UTTERLY PETRIFIED OF DOGS.. I’m sorry for shouting but I really had to emphasise that so that you could get a little feel of just how scared we were. There was this one time where my best friend and I were walking down this peaceful road on a rare sunny afternoon in London. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, we were talking about everything and anything as we can make a conversation out of absolutely nothing which I’m sure most of us girls do.. and as we were on our way minding our own business a dog and its owner had just turned the corner and it was walking directly to us.

In this time all I had done was take a breath, blink and waited for my brain to send the signal to my body to turn to my best friend so we could freak out in sync, but little did I know my best friend was a few steps ahead of me as she had bolted across the road, jumped over a fence that was pretty high may I add and ran straight through the park. I then completely shut down and stood so still and just prayed that the dog would not see me. Then as the dog and its owner were just passing by me the dog had looked in my direction. THAT.WAS.IT.. my body had regained consciousness and I RAN FOR THE HILLS.
What was so hilarious about this situation is that we both tried to justify that our actions were completely normal, and that we did nothing wrong when in reality we both bolted across a road where we could have been killed, jumped over a fence which was half our height and then ran into a park where there could have been 10 times the amount of dogs *sigh*

So the point of this blog is to tell you all that fears and phobias are dangerous and do nothing but scare us and make us look stupid, that’s not fair is it. I also hated the fact that I couldn't like dogs as from a far they looked cute and entertaining, so I decided that I wasn't going to allow myself to fear dogs anymore and I took it one step at a time of unfearing them (yes I just said that and I’m not even sure it’s a word) so that meant not running across the road for my life.. whilst risking my life just to get away from a dog, and it actually started to work.

My family also made me really want to like dogs as they all loved dogs and I thought if they love dogs surely it’s in my DNA to love dogs too.. right? Fast forwarding a couple of years it was approaching my 17th birthday and my mum was asking me what I wanted and I really had no clue so she suggested a dog.. I then looked at her in this exact way -_- and said nothing as I thought my silence would give her the time she needed to remember that I was a recovering scared of dogs person and that it would be too much to have a dog.. in my house.. my safe place where it could kill me if it wanted to.

I then left the situation alone and thought about how ridiculous it was then after hours of that I started to imagine having a dog. This was just a short clip of Santa’s Little Helper from The Simpsons being the best dog in the world and I yelled “Mum I want a dog for my birthday, thanks love you”. We then looked for dogs on a number of different sites and I was completely out of my depth. There were so many decisions to make what breed did I want, do I want a boy or a girl, do I want a puppy or an adult dog, how much was I willing to spend etc. So I just decided to leave the decision in the hands of my good friend Google I then searched something along the lines of “cute dog for sale” (no I’m not joking) I then got distracted for about an hour looking at all these cute dog pictures then I somehow found myself on YouTube watching “funny dog videos” and felt invincible, I was then really excited about the process and started researching breeds and benefits of different types of dogs and ages and which gender was best to have and after days upon days I found a lady on the loot selling a Jack Russell terrier puppy that was 5 months old and the puppy looked adorable. I was completely sold at this point and actually felt quite excited I also thought to myself well this is a great start that my dog will be a puppy so it will grow up with me and will be forced to love me so it won’t kill me in my sleep.

The next day I showed my Mum and she was sold on the puppy too so we called the lady and she agreed to meet us and give us the puppy  (When I say us I mean my poor Dad who had to go pick the puppy up all by himself as I was still a tad bit nervous) She had traveled to Luton where my Dad was off to for a job (luckily) and everything went smoothly, my Dad then  brought the puppy home and my Mum and I eagerly ran outside as my dad had arrived. I took a look at the puppy and felt this warm feeling inside.. then it passed immediately and I thought to myself shit what have I done, the fear came rushing back and I started to panic and I couldn't even get him out of the car so my Mum had to do it. We then took him upstairs and he walked straight into my room and took a long piss on my nice and clean floor and turned to look at me as if to say I think you’ll find I run shit around here now.

After cleaning my room, taking the puppy for a walk, giving him a shower and some food and water he then walked over to his bed and took a long nap. I tried to creep up on him to observe his presence but of course his super hearing meant that he heard me a mile off and he just stared at me with the cutest puppy dog eyes as if to say I’m so cute how can you not love me I’m so serious guys it was actually the cutest look ever.. cuter then puss in boots from Shrek! I then plucked up the courage to kneel down and stroke him super-fast and he didn't do anything but lean over and sniff my hand he then rolled back over and resumed his nap and I though yep I've passed the test he’s not going to kill me in my sleep I can sleep easy tonight, Marina 1 - Puppy 0.

Fast forwarding to this present day we decided to name the puppy Cookie, I absolutely love him to pieces he is the most friendliest, protective, fun, playful, funny dog ever and I am so glad he is in my life, looking back to that memory with my best friend with that dog I honestly shake my head in shame that I was such a chicken when dogs are actually the most loyal pet you could ever own. I am now one of those people who gets to laugh at others when they run away from Cookie yay it’s not me but I do sympathise with them as I do remember exactly what it feels like to fear dogs.. it isn't fun and it’s something that a lot of us suffer from but the good news is that you don’t have to fear anything in this world the only person who can set you free from fear is YOU your mind convinces you that you are so scared of something when really If you took all that energy that you use fearing something and turned it into not fearing anything you will be rather surprised at how many fears you conquer.. as it’s the new year and we’re all feeling invincible as you do for a short amount of time in the new year use this time to control your fear and BEAT IT!! Beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it.. see what I did there hahaa gotta love a bit of M.J.

"Hi, I',m Cookie.. Woof Woof"

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

Marina 'Hearts' Girl Meets Dress

Hey guys, so I was lucky enough to be chosen to collaborate with Girl Meets Dress.. What exactly is Girl Meets Dress I hear you say well let me explain. It is a FANTABULOUS dress hire company where you get to hire designer dresses for unbelievably affordable prices, and when you’re done with the dress you send it right back and don’t have to worry about the dress taking up space in your closet. Now if you don’t want to take my word for it then how about the word of The Apprentice runner up Luisa Zissman.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbKweV9t0DM

How it works I hear you ask, well you simply head on over to the site, drool over the dresses (optional), choose your dress from any of the sections, stare at the price in disbelief, have a little cry over how much money you’ve saved and then wipe your tears and hit that hire me button. Of course after you’ve selected your size and how long you require the dress for. For even more information have a look at this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwUaLZvQ9n0

Right so now you have a better understanding of Girl Meets Dress I thought I would share the 5 cocktail dresses I picked out.

1) LILI LONDON - Lace Halter Neck Skater Dress - HIRE: £29

A navy halter neck dress from Lili London. I love this dress as its cute and sexy, the colour is fab and of course the price is just jaw dropping. It would definitely be my alternative to and LBD if I didn't want to wear black.

2) TFNC - Folly Dress - HIRE: £49

The perfect red dress from TFNC. We all need that perfect red dress in our lives and this is it. This is sure to turn heads as its figure hugging and super sexy. This dress has left me speechless and I’m sure that you too will be leaving other speechless when you turn up in this little number.

3) DARK PINK - Joy Halter Maxi Dress - HIRE: £49

A stunning maxi dress from Dark Pink. This really caught my eye as it’s simple and elegant but not in a boring way that some dresses tend to come across as, because this dress features a lace halter neck and slit on the side of the dress to add that bit of sexy back in.

4) ELISE RYAN - Trim Cross Front Dress Red - HIRE: £39

An effortless flawless dress from Elise Ryan. The next thing that caught my eye was this red sleeveless dress as it’s absolutely gorgeous, and this colour will work so well for so many skin tones. Now we all know that every cocktail dress needs to have that pop of glam and this dress certainly ticks that box as it features a rounded neckline of decorative stones.

5) GORGEOUS COUTURE - The Bailey Dress Blush - HIRE: £49 (RETAIL £202)

Gorgeous couture really is gorgeous (excuse the Dad joke) I had to include this dress in my top 5 as this shade of pink is to die for. It’s loved by celebrities and fashion editors, and can be loved by you too in this specific design or in the best-selling maxi dress design.
Girl Meets Dress caters to every woman’s needs, have a look for yourself. http://www.girlmeetsdress.com/

I also came across this quote that was emailed to me from one of the lovely ladies at GMD (Girl Meets Dress) and it said "Everybody deserves a Cinderella experience" *Wipes tear* You're right, we do! Now I don't know about you ladies but I WANT MY CINDERELLA EXPERIENCE AND I WANT IT NOW! OH WE GOIN' TO THE BALL TONIGHT LADIES *Snaps fingers* Now who's with me!! Marina 'Hearts' H&M

So today I thought I'd do a quick post about some things I picked up lately at H&M. As I was passing by one of the mannequins said "hello, why don't you come in and get out of that rain" so I did as it would have been really rude of me not to (It happened I swear) First up I got this gorgeous simple layered gold chain for £7.99, I LOVE GOLD JEWELLERY! (Don't worry we can all share it)

I also picked up some rings as it is very rare that I find a ring that I love, but most importantly a ring that fits me as I have weird fingers. These pack of rings were £3.99..

I also got these pack of rings that were also £3.99 as I just couldn't decided which ones to get so I got them both..

Lastly from H&M I got.. *sigh* yes another ring I am only starting to realise that I may have went a little insane.. oh well at least when I slap myself in the face with shame I'll do it in style.. Oh but did I mention that it was only £1.99.. oh I feel much better now :)

Make sure you all go check out the H&M sale before it's over as you always get your money's worth and there are TALKING mannequins (covers mouth with hand purposely to show off rings)

Motivational Monday

"Do you ever feel, like a plastic bag, drifting through the wind, wanting to start again" DO YOU EVER FEEL.. okay that's enough now Marina, hi all today I thought I'd write a quick motivational post in case some of you need a bit of.. well motivation. Sometimes we fall into that horrific negative phase where we feel useless, like we have no purpose and like we will never get to where we want to be in life. Well let me give you a big push out of that phase, because YOU yes YOU! are useful, you have so much purpose in this world and you WILL get to where you want to be THIS YEAR! You may be thinking how do you know? well the answer to your questions is I know because when you are positive, hard working, and you go out and get what you want and NEVER accept defeat you can't lose.

Think of it this way if your running a race you will always reach the end because if you keep moving and pushing all obstacles out of your way and keep positive then you will eventually reach the end. Now when we are negative it's like we're running on a treadmill, the journey feels so much harder and longer because we can see the end but aren't getting any closer. We don't notice being on this treadmill as we are completely consumed in the negativity going around in our minds. So do something for me today and STOP, just stop. Take a deep breathe, clear your mind of all that is negative and tell yourself that if you just get off the treadmill and start fresh you will start running on a clear, happier and easier path. Then you will see the benefit of that which is seeing your goal coming closer and closer until you reach the end.

When you do reach the end, you will feel so emotional and exhausted just thinking about how you were punishing yourself, by allowing yourself to be controlled by such horrid thoughts and you will FINALLY live the life you always wanted. So come on, stop that treadmill and start fresh. If you ever feel like your going back to that treadmill come and talk to me and I will help you stay on track. I hope you all reach your goals this year and live the dream you've always dreamed. Get your running shoes on, we've got a goal to reach!

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams, live the life you have imagined"

Pukka Chai Tea

Now I don’t know about you but I’m not a very adventurous person when it comes to trying new things out, although I wish I was. I know I’m probably super late with trying out this one product, but I blame it all on being a lame old lady who never wants to step out of her comfort zone. A while ago I was at a friend’s house and I was offered a hot beverage as it was absolutely freezing cold that day (I should say everyday as I live in London) and I was told about how good chai tea was. So I decided to give it a whirl as I was feeling pretty spontaneous that day and MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS.. it was so good.

If you are yet to try chai tea, please don’t make the same mistake as me in being too scared to, it won’t bite I promise it is absolutely delicious. If you are wondering what the ingredients of chai tea is then wonder no more as I have the perfect description (taken from the box) “Pukka original chai, organic black tea gently spiced with cinnamon, cardamom and ginger”. In the box you get 20 sachets and all you need to do is infuse the tea bag in freshly boiled water with however many teaspoons of sugar you desire.

You can also add honey and a splash of milk “for a cup of pure joy” You can find this specific box of chai tea as well as Pukka’s other tea products in Tesco.

Grab your cuppa, get on that sofa and indulge in unhealthy amounts of crappy T.V as it is Sunday and that's how we do it in my household.

Lots of love.. Mx

Welcome To My Blog..

Okay so I have absolutely no idea how to start a blog so I’m just going to write whatever pops up in my head (chocolate) okay maybe I shouldn't write absolutely everything otherwise this will probably turn into a food blog. I guess a smarter approach to starting a blog would be introducing myself, my names Marina Tilahun, I am 20 years old and I live in London. Is it just me or did that sound a bit like the “about me” section for a dating profile.. Sorry about that, moving on.

I decided to start a blog as one of my new year’s resolutions is to do more things that I’m too shy to do, and this is definitely one of them. Another one of my new year’s resolutions is to actually try and complete a new year’s resolution for once in the 20 years of my life. I must say I’m very proud of myself for actually doing this as throwing yourself into the blogging world is actually quite scary. You never know who is going to be reading your blogs or who you might come across, there are tons of weirdo’s out there and I know I’m a bit of a weirdo but I mean a weirdo past normal.

(Oh just get to the point Marina) What my blog will be about... well mainly my interests like photography, fashion, make-up, events, TV shows/films, food and MAYBE (sorry for shouting) some motivational blog posts. Right I think I have taken up enough of your time with my rambling so I should probably go, thanks so much for sticking around and reading my first blog post and hopefully I can get to know each and every single one of you. Happy New Year everyone I hope this year you too do something that you're too scared to do.. trust me it feels great to do something you’re absolutely petrified of doing. If I can do it so can you.. I BELIEVE IN YOU! Smiley face, yes I just typed smiley face and no I’m not going to erase it.

“If you can dream it, you can do it”
